Active Older Adults

At the Y, we empower people of all ages and abilities to change their lives for the better.

During Phase 1 of our reopening plan not all fitness classes are available to members.

An active OCYMCA membership is required to use the facilities and to participate in classes. To reactivate your membership or to become a member, please call the Welcome Center at 732-341-9622 x0, Mon-Fri from 7am to 6pm.

We will be utilizing the SuperSaaS reservation system to coordinate member visits to the OCYMCA.

At this time, reservations are required for Lap Swim lanes and Group Fitness classes.

The programs and activities here go far beyond classes and schedules. They provide a multitude of opportunities to enhance lifestyle, get active together and meet others in a safe and fun environment. In addition, the programs and activities at the Y are not just about fitness, they are about all around well-being.

We’re A Gym – And So Much More!

Ageless Cardio & Strength: Different variations of cardio each week plus an overall strength workout that will take you out of your comfort zone.

Arthritis: This exercise program can and will have a huge and positive impact on individuals with arthritis. Gentle movements will increase flexibility and range of motion along with muscle strength, using a chair for support.

Balance It Out: Balance training, focusing on exercises that improve lower body muscle strength, visual acuity, core strengthening, neck flexibility, and ankle dexterity.

The Y offers classes especially for Active Older Adults to keep your mind and body young at heart!

SilverSneakers Classic (Beginner): Exercises are designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and activity for daily living. Hand-held weights, exercise ball, elastic tubing with handles for resistance are used. Chair used for sitting/standing support.

SilverSneakers Circuit (Intermediate): Take the next step from SilverSneakers Classic. Low impact cardiovascular conditioning class for standing support.

SilverSneakers Splash (All Levels): SilverSneakers Splash is an aquatic fitness class designed to enhance each individual’s quality of life. Kickboards used to develop strength, balance, and coordination. No Registration Required for SilverSneakers Splash. This is a Drop-In Class
