LIFEGUARD 2-YR. CERTIFICATION CLASS

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Blended Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. The blended learning option combines online learning with in-person skill sessions conducted by a Red Cross-certified instructor.

Fees: Members $350, Non-Members $437

Swim Requirement:

  • Must be able to:
    1. Perform the following sequence continuously: Jump into the water from the side, totally submerge, recover to the surface and swim 150 yards (breaststroke or freestyle), tread water for 2 minutes with kick only (no hands), then swim 50 more yards. Swimming goggles may be used during this event.
    2. Swim 20 yards, submerge 7-10 feet, retrieve a ten-pound brick, and swim on back 20 yards carrying the brick in both hands within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Goggles may not be worn during this event. Please note the pre-test fee is non-refundable. Registration for lifeguard courses will be open in-house after successful completion of a pre-test.

LIFEGUARD RE-CERTIFICATION CLASS

Lifeguard recertification can be achieved with Lifeguarding Review classes that refresh your knowledge and skills and update your certification for another two years. To participate in the Lifeguard Review class you must have a current lifeguard certification, or certification expired by no more than 30 days.

Fees: Members $185, Non-Members $245

Mandatory Prerequisites:

  • Must show proof of current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • Must be able to:
    1. Note: Once registered, online-blended learning content will be sent 1 week prior to start of lifeguard course and needs to be completed prior to start of course.
